Mission Hills, an upscale area of beautiful historical homes, sits
above Old Town on the rolling hills that overlook the San Diego harbor.
Many homes designed by renowned architect Irving Gill have been preserved
and renovated. In this area, you will find Craftsman homes, Spanish
Revival, California bungalows, Mission-style homes and many other one-of-a-kind
residences. As an older, more established area of San Diego, Mission
Hills homes varying in price from moderate to estates, with a mix of
price ranges possible on any given street. Many homes overlook the
entire harbor and city.
Mission Hills Nursery was started more than a century ago by Kate Sessions,
who served as the landscape artist for Balboa Park. This nursery, along
with shopping and other services along Washington and Goldfinch Streets
serve as the neighborhood and commercial center. Adding to the charm
are many small cafes and specialty retail shops that line the streets.
The area enjoys many community activities including Friday summer concerts
held in Pioneer Park, a street fair for local artisans, and various church
and civic events. |
